The “Future 500” represents a passionate group of individuals, businesses and organizations who are dedicated to helping The Jason Foundation, Inc. (JFI) in addressing the “Silent Epidemic” of youth suicide.
According to the CDC’s Youth Risk Behavioral Survey, if rates do not change:
- Nationally:
17%, or over 1 out of six of our youth will seriously consider suicide over the next 12 months if nothing is done differently.
13.6%, almost 1 out of every 7 young people will “make a plan to commit suicide” – moving from concern to a crisis situation if nothing is done differently.
8%, over 1 out of every 13 young people, will attempt suicide…if nothing is done differently.
The Future 500 is dedicated to helping “do something differently“ first by helping provide the families of the members of the Future 500 , or in the case of a business membership the company’s employees, the tools and resources to help identify and assist possible at-risk youth for suicide via a special customized website- Future 500 “Parents Resource Program”. Secondly, the financial support received from the members of the Future 500 will help enable JFI to continue its 17 year history of providing our programs and resources to schools, churches, youth organizations and communities at no-charge to those we contract.
